WE DO THIS BY WALKING ARM-IN-ARM WITH LEADERS FROM MAJOR PUBLIC AND PRIVATE INSTITUTIONS TO TACKLE THE MOST PRESSING SOCIAL ISSUES OF OUR TIME. PROJECT RE:NEW IS FOCUSED ON DESIGNING SIMPLE AND INTUITIVE RENEWAL FORMS FOR MICHIGAN'S LARGEST ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS. CURRENTLY, RENEWAL FORMS IN MICHIGAN CONTAIN INSTITUTIONAL LANGUAGE AND DESIGN THAT CREATE A SIGNIFICANT BURDEN ON RESIDENTS AND FIELD STAFF, RESULTING IN HIGH PROCESSING COSTS, HIGH ERROR RATES, AND CHURN. BUILDING ON THE SUCCESS OF THE NEW APPLICATION, CIVILLA WORKED WITH MDHHS TO DESIGN RENEWAL FORMS THAT ARE STREAMLINED AND EFFICIENT. IN 2018, CIVILLA CONDUCTED DEEP RESEARCH AND USER TESTING WITH RESIDENTS AND FIELD STAFF TO UNDERSTAND THEIR EXPERIENCES, NEEDS, AND PAIN POINTS. CIVILLA WORKED IN FAST, ITERATIVE CYCLES WITH MDHHS TO DEVELOP AND TEST NEW RENEWALS IN THE FIELD WITH CLIENTS AND IDENTIFY THE BIGGEST OPPORTUNITIES FOR IMPROVEMENT. THE TEAM ESTABLISHED READINESS FOR A PILOT IN TWO MDHHS FIELD OFFICES IN 2019. THE PURPOSE OF THE PILOT WILL BE TO TEST CHANGES TO RENEWAL FORMS IN THE FIELD AND PREPARE THEM FOR STATEWIDE ROLLOUT.
