A PULSE OF THE REGION SURVEY WAS CONDUCTED AS A FIRST STEP TO GATHERING PERSPECTIVES ON PUBLIC POLICY AND COMMUNITY IMPACT. POLICIES, GUIDELINES, RECOMMENDATIONS, AND WORKSHOPS WILL BE DEVELOPED IN EARLY 2020 RELATED TO EMPLOYMENT PRACTICES, LAW ENFORCEMENT, LOCAL GOVERNMENT, PUBLIC AND COMMUNITY HEALTH AND SAFETY, AND PUBLIC INFORMATION AND EDUCATION.- CONTINUED TO FOLLOW OPIOID REFORM ACTIVITIES AT THE STATE AND FEDERAL LEVEL, AS WELL AS MENTAL HEALTH REFORM AT THE STATE LEVEL- ELECTION REFORMS - IN AN EFFORT TO PROMOTE GOOD GOVERNMENT AND CITIZEN ENGAGEMENT, MAC COMMUNICATED TO ELECTED LEADERS AND THE MEDIA REGARDING ELIMINATION OF TERM LIMITS AS A WAY TO FOSTER MORE EFFECTIVE GOVERNMENTINFRASTRUCTURE TASK FORCE:- A FINAL REPORT AND RECOMMENDATIONS WERE SHARED WITH THE GOVERNOR'S TRANSITION TEAM, WHICH INCLUDED SUPPORT FOR:-- ASSET MANAGEMENT AND COORDINATED INFRASTRUCTURE PLANNING-- CREATION OF A STATE INFRASTRUCTURE COUNCIL-- NEED TO MAINTAIN QUALITY TRANSPORTATION, WATER AND SEWER, AND ENERGY INFRASTRUCTURE-- NEED TO SUPPORT ALL INFRASTRUCTURE WITH ADEQUATE, SUSTAINABLE FUNDING- THE GROUP RECONVENED TO DISCUSS INFRASTRUCTURE AND TRANSPORTATION FUNDING ISSUES.- MAC SUPPORTED EFFORTS TO EXTEND THE GOOD JOBS FOR MICHIGAN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT INCENTIVE PROGRAM, SHARED BUDGET PRIORITIES IN LINE WITH MAC POLICIES WITH THE SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION, AND CONTINUED TO WORK WITH SEMCOG, THE REGIONAL TRANSIT AUTHORITY (THE "RTA"), AND ELECTED LEADERS IN ONGOING EFFORTS TO SUPPORT TRANSIT AND TRANSPORTATION FUNDING IN SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN.
