About

Legal representation, documents, and social services: - 211 cases of orphans and vulnerable children needing legal protection and representation were completed by the Baghdad Street Lawyers Project. Legal issues involved begging on the streets, stealing, sex trafficking and other alleged juvenile crimes or victimization of children by criminals. The street lawyers also helped 398 children get their legal identity documents, without which they are unable to go to school or receive government benefits which might allow them to stop child labor. - Social workers on the street lawyers' team offered a variety of services to help 280 children get medical care, stop domestic and workplace abuse, end child labor, and receive psychosocial services for trauma or mental health issues. Altogether, the cases handled by the legal and social services team came to 889, representing life changing assistance for the most vulnerable children in Iraq.
