About this organization
Mission
BAHIA was established in 1975 by and for Latino families to address the unmet need for bilingual child development services for low-income Latino families in Northern Alameda County. Today, BAHIA remains the only bilingual, full-time, non-profit toddler/preschool childcare and after-school program in the region, providing subsidies to over 60% of the families served. Our programs provide a continuum of quality, affordable services to children and families for up to eight consecutive years. Research shows that early care and education participation increases self-reliance and personal growth and decreases unnecessary costs, both personal and societal.
About
To provide both subsidized and full cost bilingual child development services to children in three programs, Centro VIDA, Bahia School Age and La Academia de Bahia for children ages 2-10 years to families in Alameda County. Approximately 200 children were served.
