About
The Casa program had a record breaking recruitment year and swore in 92 new Casa volunteers. Over the course of the year, 167 active volunteers provided advocacy and support for 318 children involved in dependency and neglect cases. These children served are some of the community's most vulnerable citizens and range in age from birth to 18 and are victims of physical, sexual and/or emotional abuse or have been neglected by their family to a point of severe risk. Appointed by the courts, the Casa volunteers gather information from teachers, doctors, therapists, relatives and the child in order to make recommendations to the court regarding services and the best permanent home for the child.
