Through this program, we provide: Infant cribs from Cribs for Kids that meet standards of the American Academy of Pediatrics, to facilitate and support safe sleep practices for families who do not have a safe location for their baby to sleep. In-home Lactation Consultation to support healthy infant feeding practices, continuation of breastfeeding, mental health support and parent-child attachment after a NICU stay. Respite care to support parental mental health and family well-being.In 2019, we received many more requests or financial grants than our grants and donations funds could provide. Therefore, we began providing follow-up phone calls to inquire about their needs. Many families reported not needing additional financial support services, but said they appreciated the follow-up call. For families interested in financial assistance with support services, we linked them to appropriate public health programs or early intervention services who could locate other financial and other types of family assistance. The family support grants are greatly appreciated by the families as well as the public health nurses or practitioners. The Family Support Grant Application is one simple page, it is easy to complete and we can respond quickly; providers report that our assistance allows families to receive more immediate support while they seek other resources to assist in the long term or support greater needs. We are very grateful for the grants from Newborn Hope, the University Hills Rotary Club, as well as our Caring Connections Donors.
