Mission

Edu-Futuro empowers under-resourced Latino and immigrant youth through education, leadership development, and family engagement, to become the next generation of professionals who transform their communities.

About

The emerging leaders program (ELP) is Edu-Futuro's flagship program which is designed to work with middle-school and high school students to encourage them to remain on a college track throughout their secondary education. It begins with ELP STEM robotics for middle school students to strengthen their interest in careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. ELP I in the early high school years offers workshops in essay writing, interviewing, public speaking, networking, teambuilding and community service, and preparation for the college and scholarship application process. ELP II is a one-on-one mentoring program for high school seniors as they prepare their college and scholarship applications. In 2017-18 a summer internship program was added for graduates of the ELP program; 5 students were matched with internships. The ELP programs served 497 youth primarily from low income and immigrant households in both Arlington and Fairfax counties in 2017-18.
