Girls Leading Girlss (GLG) mission is to train young women in leadership and life skills through soccer. By empowering females at a young age to explore and harness their talents around through skill development, leadership development, and character development; women will become leaders of a thriv-ing global society.

About

At GLG we believe that every woman has infinite potential. Our program focuses on empowering girls to be leaders within their own communities, encouraging collaboration amongst girls of different socio-economic backgrounds, fortifying girls life skills through the lessons of sports and friendly competi-tion. SF Sol Soccer Club: Girls soccer club age groups U9-U16, female head and assistant coaches training program, player mentorship program, and High School/Middle School girls Junior Coaches Training. All coaches have completed a CPR course and obtained their Coaching License from the California Youth Soccer Association. Players pay a small membership fee to participate in the Club. In 2018, we had 240 members, 20 coaches, 2 junior coaches.After School Program: Monthly free after school soccer program to girls living in families that are on or under the San Francisco income poverty line receive free after school programming at their school sites. The goal is to encourage female players, provide leadership training to aspiring coaches, and garner community support. In collaboration with other grassroots organizations and local public schools, these programs will provide volunteer coaches for the players and donated equipment to hand out to the play-ers. In 2018, we served 160 girls and provided programming to seven schools in San Francisco and Oak-land.Girls Service: Locally and Internationally we provide community service opportunities for young girls to give back to their communities and learn through service the value of leadership, teamwork, and em-powering others. Participants can travel in groups to various countries to participate in week long soccer camps in rural communities, specifically encouraging women to play soccer or other sports. All travel components will be organized by another collaborating organization not GLG; players conduct fundrais-ers to pay for their travel costs for this program. In 2018 we traveled to Costa Rica.Mentorship: In order to build leadership skills our members have the opportunity to attend various events for free covering topics on career goals, financial management, college planning, goal setting, and more with various guest speakers.
