EVENTSKEYNOTE: THE WELD COLUMBUS CHAPTER HELD ITS ANNUAL KEYNOTE EVENT THAT HAD 730 INDIVIDUALS SIGNING UP TO HEAR OUR KEYNOTE SPEAKER, THASUNDA BROWN DUCKETT ON THE TOPIC OF THINK BIG & TAKE RISKS. HER KEYNOTE HIGHLIGHTED HER CAPTIVATING STORY OF LEADERSHIP AND LIFE LESSONS SHE LEARNED ON THE ROAD TO BECOMING CEO OF CONSUMER BANKING AT JPMORGAN CHASE WHILE MANAGING LIFE AT HOME AND THE FOUNDATION SHE ESTABLISHED IN HER PARENTS' NAME. SHE ALSO DISCUSSED THE IMPORTANCE OF AN INCLUSIVE AND DIVERSE WORKFORCE WHERE EMPLOYEES FEEL EMPOWERED TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE. AS A RESULT OF THIS SUCCESS, WELD WAS ABLE TO GENERATE 74 SCHOLARSHIPS TO OUR LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE. LEADERSHIP:WELD HOSTS AN ANNUAL WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE EACH SUMMER TO EDUCATE WOMEN AT VARIOUS STAGES OF THEIR CAREERS. A WIDE RANGE OF EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING WILL ADDRESS THE DIVERSE WAYS WOMEN CAN DEVELOP AND APPLY LEADERSHIP SKILLS IN BOTH PROFESSIONAL AND CIVIC SERVICE. THERE ARE SEVERAL DIFFERENT CAREER TRACKS. ATTENDEES COME AWAY WITH A STRONG SENSE OF URGENT NEED TO APPLY THOUGHT AND CREATIVITY TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP POSITIONS, AS WELL AS, PRACTICAL SKILLS TO HELP ACHIEVE THAT GOAL. WELD CONDUCTED ITS NINTH ANNUAL FULL-DAY LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE WHICH FEATURED OVER 50 EXPERT PRESENTERS ON A VARIETY OF LEADERSHIP TOPICS. WELD HAD ITS LARGEST NUMBER OF REGISTRATIONS FOR ITS LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE EVER 506 REGISTRATIONS WITH 447 IN ATTENDANCE, EXCLUDING THE GIRLS' TRACK. WOMEN FROM 11 PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS ATTENDED THE CONFERENCE ON SCHOLARSHIP USING THE 74 SCHOLARSHIPS RAISED AT THE COLUMBUS KEYNOTE. THESE WOMEN ARE STRIVING FOR ECONOMIC INDEPENDENCE AND ARE REINVENTING THEIR LIVES AFTER SUFFERING EXTREME SET BACK. THEY WERE ABLE TO LEARN NEW SKILL SETS IN A SAFE AND SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT AND BUILD NEW COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS. WOMEN WELDING THE WAY CALENDAR:THE WELD COLUMBUS CHAPTER LAUNCHED ITS 16TH ANNUAL WOMEN WELDING THE WAY (R) CALENDAR. THESE CALENDARS SHOWCASE THE ACHIEVEMENTS OF 12 WOMEN WHO ARE NOMINATED BY THE COMMUNITY AND SELECTED BY KEY BUSINESS AND COMMUNITY LEADERS. THE CALENDAR HONOREES ARE A DIVERSE MIX OF WOMEN WHO ARE LEADERS IN THEIR COMPANIES AND INDUSTRIES, HAVE POSITIVELY IMPACTED THEIR COMMUNITIES AND HAVE INSPIRED WOMEN TO STRIVE FOR THEIR CAREER ASPIRATIONS WHILE REACHING BACK FOR OTHERS. A PRINTED CALENDAR IS CREATED FOR EACH OF THESE CHAPTERS THAT SHOWCASES THE TALENT AND CONTRIBUTIONS OF THESE WOMEN. THE COLUMBUS CHAPTER PRINTS APPROXIMATELY 3,000 OF THESE CALENDARS. REGISTRATIONS FOR THE EVENT WERE 330.
