Isuroon is dedicated to building Somali women and girls social connectedness and self-sufficiency so that they can lead healthier, more productive lives in Minnesota and globally. Isuroon envisions a world where Somali women and girls are healthy, connected and empowered and their families are thriving in Minnesota and globally. In our vision, Somali women, girls and their families are: • Developing a blueprint for exiting poverty and achieving a level of economic self-sufficiency, • Building cultural bridges, • Identifying and addressing cultural and systemic barriers, and • Securing increased access to preventative healthcare.

REFUGEE;ETHNIC SELF HELP GRANT 3 YEARS: THE GOAL OF THIS GRANT WAS TO ACCOMPLISH 4 TASKS, CASE MANAGEMENT, WORKSHOP ON FEMALE GENITAL CUTTING (FGC), WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP TRAINING, AND DEVELOP THE CAPACITY OF ISUROON. CASE MANAGEMENT IS FOR NEW REFUGEES AFTER THE RESETTLE AGENCY IS DONE SERVING THEM. THIS IS WHERE MANY FALL IN TO HARDSHIP OF NOT UNDERSTANDING HOW TO NAVIGATE THE NEW SYSTEM. IN THE CASE MANAGEMENT, ISUROON DID TRAININGS IN HEALTH & SYSTEM LITERACY, SETTING DOCTOR APPOINTMENTS TO ADDRESS HEALTH DISPARITY, ADDRESS-HOUSING DISCRIMINATION, CONNECTING WITH BETETR SCHOOLS UNDERSTANDING THIER RIGHTS AND WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP. 60 CASE MANAGEMENT PER YEAR WITH 180 FAMILIES PARTICIPATED. ISUROON ORAGANIZED WORKSHOP ABOUT THE HARMFULNESS OF FEMALE GENITAL CUTTING(FGC) AND TRAINED OVER 540 REFUGEES, 180 PER YEAR. 15 WOMEN PARTICIPATED WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP TRAINING PER YEAR WITH 45 AT THE END OF THREE YEARS. THE GRANT ALSO HELPED ISUROON TO DEVELOP CAPACITY TO TRAIN ITS STAFFS, FINANCIAL POLICIES,ADVANTAGE, AND DIVERSIFY OUR FUNDING SOURCES.
