Collect, preserve, interpret and share the history and culture of the Clay County, MN.

About

We are a museum interpreting the Viking ship Hjemkomst that sailed to Norway in 1982 and the Hopperstad Stave Church as permanent exhibits. We also offer quarterly changing traveling exhibits of interest to the general public, and we research and install a Clay County (MN) exhibit every two years. We have quarterly changing art exhibits featuring regional artists and groups, and we program hall case displays year round. We produce three cultural festivals a year and provide history and cultural programs throughout the year. We also preserve over 30,000 historical artifacts and archival materials focused on Clay County. The archives are open and free to the public all year long for research.
