A NATIONAL CENTER FOR FIBER ART, TEXTILE CENTER WELCOMES MORE THAN 20,000 VISITORS EACH YEAR TO ITS CENTER. TEXTILE CENTER'S WIDE ARRAY OF PROGRAMMING EMBRACES ALL FORMS OF FIBER ART INCLUDING WEAVING, QUILTING, KNITTING, SEWING, DYEING, FELTING, NEEDLEWORK, LACE MAKING, BEADING, SCULPTURE, SOFT SCULPTURE, AND MULTI-MEDIA PIECES. LOCATED IN MINNEAPOLIS, TEXTILE CENTER IS UNIQUE AS THE ONLY TWIN CITIES' CENTER FOR FIBER ART. FIBER ARTISTS AND VISIONARY ARTS PATRONS STARTED THE ORGANIZATION 25 YEARS AGO. TEXTILE CENTER'S FACILITY, LOCATED IN MINNEAPOLIS' PROSPECT PARK NEIGHBORHOOD, OPENED IN 2001 AFTER A SUCCESSFUL CAPITAL CAMPAIGN. BOTH ONSITE AND OFF, TEXTILE CENTER OFFERS MORE THAN 200 FIBER ART CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS EACH YEAR, AND ITS ARTS CENTER IS HOME TO A STATE-OF-THE-ART DYE LAB, FOUR GALLERIES, A RETAIL ARTISAN SHOP, CLASSROOMS, AND A LIBRARY THAT HAS ONE OF THE LARGEST CIRCULATING COLLECTIONS ON FIBER ART AND TECHNIQUES IN THE NATION, WITH MORE THAN 31,000 BOOKS AND PERIODICALS.YEAR-ROUND EDUCATION PROGRAMS PROVIDE A RANGE OF LEARNING EXPERIENCES, ENCOMPASSING WORKSHOPS SERVING MASTER ARTISTS TO INTRODUCTORY CLASSES FOR THE CURIOUS. NEARLY 2,000 ADULTS AND MORE THAN 1,500 YOUTH TAKE PART IN TEXTILE CENTER'S EDUCATION PROGRAMS.
