PUBLIC ART SAINT PAUL PROGRAMS ARE HELD WITHIN A COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAM OF "THE NEXT PUBLIC ART". WITHIN THAT, THREE INTEGRATED AND MUTUALLY SUPPORTIVE ACTIVITIES ADD TO THE FLOURISHING OF CIVIC LIFE. CITY ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE (CAIR'S) ARE IMMERSED IN PUBLIC AGENCIES CHARGED WITH PLANNING, DEVELOPMENT, AND FUNCTION OF CITY SYSTEMS; GROUNDS FOR CREATIVITY IS PASP'S PRODUCTION ARM THAT DEVELOPS AND PRODUCES CITY-SCALE PUBLIC ART. IN SUPPORT OF THESE TWO ACTIVITIES, THE CITY SCHOOL OFFERS CIVIC ENGAGEMENT AND EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUNG PEOPLE, PROFESSIONAL AND BROAD-BASED AUDIENCES. CAIR'S ARE INTEGRAL TO NEW THINKING FOR THE URBAN FUTURE, WITH BROAD IMPACT ON URBAN AGRICULTURE, WATER MANAGEMENT, URBAN FOREST, SOCIAL INTERACTION, TRANSPORTATION, AND THE EVERYDAY DYNAMIC OF PUBLIC PLACE. GROUNDS FOR CREATIVITY CONNECTS BIG ARTISTIC IDEAS, COMMUNITY ASPIRATIONS AND PUBLIC PLACES TO REALIZE IMPACTFUL CITY-SCALED ART IN MULTIPLE MEDIA. EXAMPLES INCLUDE: SIDEWALK POETRY AS PART OF ANNUAL CITY SIDEWALK REPLACEMENT, ENVIRONMENTAL ART INTEGRATED INTO STORMWATER MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS, AND A SCULPTURE PARK IN A CORE CITY NEIGHBORHOOD.
