About

IN 2015, MARC&D ENTERED INTO A THREE YEAR AGREEMENT TO PROVIDE THIRD PARTY ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES TO THE ENBRIDGE ECOFOOTPRINT GRANT PROGRAM. THIS IS A THREE YEAR AGREEMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF THREE MILLION DOLLARS (ONE MILLION PER YEAR) FOR GRANTS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECTS WITHIN WATERSHED CROSSED BY THE ENBRIDGE LINE 3 REPLACEMENT AND SANDPIPER PIPELINE PROJECT CORRIDORS. THE PROJECT ALSO INCLUDES $85,000 PER YEAR, FOR THREE YEARS, FOR DIRECT AND INDIRECT EXPENSES IN PROVIDING THESE SERVICES. FUNDING PRIORITIES FOR THESE GRANTS INCLUDE: IMPROVE AND/OR PROTECT SURFACE WATER AND/OR GROUNDWATER QUALITY IN WATERSHEDS CROSSED BY PROJECTS; CONSERVE OR RESTORE SENSITIVE ENVIRONMENTAL RESOURCES; ADVANCE RESEARCH AND SCIENCE RELATED TO THREATENED AND ENDANGERED SPECIES AND/OR DECLINING POPULATIONS; FOSTER ENVIRONMENTAL POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION AND STEWARDSHIP; IMPROVE RESEARCH RELATED TO THE TRANSPORTATION OF CRUDE OIL AS IT RELATES TO THE ENVIRONMENT; AND FOCUS ON ENVIRONMENTAL AREAS OR ISSUES THAT ARE MOST RELEVANT TO LOCAL COMMUNITIES. ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS INCLUDE NON-PROFIT 501(C)(3) ORGANIZATIONS, STATE GOVERNMENT AGENCIES, LOCAL GOVERNMENTS, NATIVE AMERICAN TRIBES, AND POST-SECONDARY ACADEMIC INSTITUTIONS. INELIGIBLE APPLICANTS INCLUDE UNINCORPORATED INDIVIDUALS AND PRIVATE FOR PROFIT BUSINESSES. WE CONSIDER THIS A UNIQUE CONTRIBUTION AND HAVE NO PLANS TO FURTHER THIS BUSINESS LINE AT THIS TIME. MARC&D HAS FINAL DECISIONS ON THE GRANT RECIPIENT AGREEMENTS FOR THIS DONOR ADVISED PROGRAM. IN 2018, THE GRANT WAS USED TO CONTINUE THE PROJECTS AWARDED IN THE PRIOR YEARS.
