About this organization
Mission
To develop enduring workforce and life skills through service learning historic preservation and community stewardship.
About
Corpsmembers ages 18-25 are selected for our program from all backgrounds and walks of life for their enthusiasm, desire to learn, and commitment to serve for 3 month (quarter-time, 450 hours) or six month (half-time, 900 hrs) terms. They serve on historic preservation projects during a season from May to October. In 2018 crews served at 22 different project sites: they restored historically significant log buildings, windows and cemeteries, completed carpentry and painting/staining service projects and helped on an archeological survey. Service projects are planned and funded through parnerships with a variety of groups throughout the state of Minnesota, including non-profit organizations and government entities at all levels (federal, state, county and local). This program has been financed in part with funds provided by the state of Minnesota from the arts and cultural heritage fund through the Minnesota Historical Society.
