Kenosha Young Men's Christian Association, Inc. is a community based recreational agency. Organized in 1930, the major emphasis of the agency is on youth activities, family development and physical fitness structured to develop positive attitudes, physical health and leadership capabilities.
About
Youth & Family - In 2014 the youth & family department, formally known as child development, had a total enrollment of 1,591 children in our licensed children care programs. On average over 213 children were served daily in 6 before and after school and 1 preschool sites. One out of seven children served, receive scholarships through the Kenosha YMCA John & Judy Wavro Scholarship Fund or the Wisconsin Works Program. New programs were implemented including scheduled 'theme days' such as literacy, health & safety, YMCA pride and core values, and community service. Also offered are instructional dance and basketball at the before & after school sites. Teaming with the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department, the Kenosha YMCA reaches out to Kenosha's inner city families in the Frank Neighborhood Project with activities and training in life skills that will enable them to lead responsible lives.
