About
The Fall Ensemble 2018 served 29 children in the program. This performance of Cats, music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, based on 'Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats' by T.S. Eliot, allowed us to teach children and teens the nuance of musical theatre. Students were combined for all grades (4-12), where the younger students learn from the older ones, and they work together to put on a stellar, large-scale production, and were a part of the program from September through December 2018. The cast as a whole, and individual actors and members of the production team won or received nominations for the National Youth Arts Awards. The Spring Senior Ensemble 2019 served 13 teenagers and gave them the opportunity to learn the Broadway show Chicago, book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb. The program ran from January 2019 through May 2019. The cast as a whole, and individual actors and members of the production team won or received nominations for the National Youth Arts Awards. The Spring Junior Ensemble 2019 served 21 children, and gave them the opportunity to participate in the U.S. premiere of a new show, Imaginary, book & lyrics by Timothy Knapman, music & lyrics by Stuart Matthew Price, commissioned and produced by National Youth Music Theatre and first performed 9 August 2017 at the Other Palace, London.
