Mission

Chief Seattle Club's mission statement is to provide a sacred space to nurture, affirm, and renew the spirit of Urban Native Peoples. Founded in 1970, the Club is a day center for homeless/low-income Native Americans in Seattle, Washington. Seven days a week, 364 days a year, 100~ members come to the Club for basic needs such as hot meals, showers and laundry services. We gain their trust and act as a gateway to a broad range of coordinated social services, including health care; mental health; housing assistance; legal aid; access to benefits; substance abuse intake and referrals; cultural, art and spiritual activities. We partner with non-profits, tribes, and government agencies to leverage coordinated on-site services to our members.

About

DAY CENTER AND CAPITAL PROJECT: Open 7 days a week, 364 days a year. Members receive 4 meals a day, take showers and have their laundry washed. Additional on-site services include a nurse, mental health counselor, Traditional Healers, and public benefits screener. We are developing a mixed-use project adjacent to our current facility including housing, health clinic, expanded space, and social enterprise. In 2018, we raised $11.8 million including $4 million in capital campaign contributions. We purchased the site in October 2018 and architects completed schematic design. The project starts construction in 2019 and will be completed in 2021.
