IN 2016, TELLURIDE ACADEMY RAN 117 SUMMER AND 27 AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS, BETWEEN ONE AND SIX WEEKS IN LENGTH, FOR 935 TOTAL STUDENTS, AGES 5 TO 17. 335 OF THOSE STUDENTS LIVE AND GO TO SCHOOL IN THE TELLURIDE COMMUNITY. 343 OF THOSE LOCAL STUDENTS QUALIFIED AND RECEIVED 195,001 IN TUITION ASSISTANCE. 2016 ALSO SAW A SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF LATINO CHILDREN SERVED WITH 50 IN ATTENDANCE AS COMPARED TO ONLY 10 SERVED IN 2015. WHILE ACADEMY PROGRAMMING FOCUSES PRIMARILY ON OUTDOOR EXPERIENTIAL EDUCATION (E.G. HIKING, ROCK CLIMBING, BACKPACKING, MOUNTAIN BIKING, KAYAKING, AND WILDERNESS EXPLORATION), PROGRAM OFFERINGS ALSO INCLUDE (CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O--) PERFORMING ARTS AND ARTISTIC ADVENTURES, SCIENCE EXPLORATION, AND GLOBAL AWARENESS. IN ADDITION TO THEIR TRADITIONAL PROGRAMMING, IN 2016 TELLURIDE ACADEMY ALSO WORKED WITH THEIR LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICT TO PLAN AND EXECUTE A HIGH SCHOOL TEAM BUILDING DAY WHICH SERVED APPROXIMATELY 100 STUDENTS. TELLURIDE ACADEMY ALSO HOSTED AN OVERNIGHT ADVENTURE FOR 25 REGIONAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS, IN ADDITION TO A TEAM BUILDING DAY FOR 50 HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS. ALL TOTALED, TELLURIDE ACADEMY SERVED 1,060 CHILDREN AND TEACHERS. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO COLLABORATED WITH THEIR LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICT TO HELP DESIGN AND RAISE FUNDS TO CONSTRUCT A NEW STATE-OF-THE-ART CLIMBING WALL LOCATED IN A NEW ADDITION OF THE TELLURIDE MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL FACILITY. THIS NEW CLIMBING WALL IS AVAILABLE TO THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY AND SERVES AS TELLURIDE ACADEMY'S PRIMARY CAMPUS FOR THEIR AFTER-SCHOOL CLIMBING PROGRAMS.
