To provide charitable assistance & education concerning legal matters to the community, including pro bono legal services in civil matters to low-income persons, charitable grants & contributions, and operation of the Shreveport Bar Center.

SBF provides pro bono assistance in civil matters to persons at or below the federal poverty income level. Related activities include free civil legal assistance to low income clients in the areas of family law, child custody, domestic protective orders, succession, and leases; a free ask-a-lawyer clinic each month at the Shreveport Bar Center, a building owned and operated by SBF; a pro se library that is available to the public for a safe and private environment to research legal issues with the assistance of SBF staff. SBF operates a 'legal representation for victims of domestic violence' program which provides free legal representation to obtain protective orders and ancillary orders of support and child custody, without regard to the victim/client's income level. In addition, SBF operates in partnership with Caddo Parish Clerk of Court, and Project Celebration Inc. to accept referral of representation of their clients for cases involving successions, uncontested divorces and domestic violence protective orders. In 2018, a total of 35 volunteer attorneys donated 550 hours of legal services to assist 308 clients.
