Mission
The purpose of the United Religions Initiative is to promote enduring, daily interfaith cooperation, to end religiously motivated violence and to create cultures of peace, justice and healing for the earth and all living beings. URI is a global grassroots interfaith network (present in 108 countries) that cultivates peace and justice by engaging people to bridge religious and cultural differences and work together within their communities. We implement our mission through local and global initiatives that build the capacity of our more than 1,000 member groups and organizations, called Cooperation Circles, to engage in community action such as conflict resolution and reconciliation, environmental sustainability, education, women's and youth programs, and advocacy for human rights.

GLOBAL NETWORK DEVELOPMENT: IN 18 YEARS, URI HAS GROWN TO NEARLY 1,000-MEMBER GROUPS IN 109 COUNTRIES. EACH GROUP, CALLED COOPERATION CIRCLES (CCS), IS COMPRISED OF PEOPLE REPRESENTING AT LEAST THREE DIFFERENT RELIGIONS, TRADITIONS OR BELIEFS WILLING TO ENGAGE IN INTERFAITH DIALOGUE AND COLLABORATE ON HUMANITARIAN EFFORTS IN THEIR COMMUNITY.
