Mission

The Atlanta Scholars Kollel is dedicated to promoting Jewish identity by engaging Jews in meaningful learning and living experiences. Drawing from classic Judaic sources we connect Jews to the timeless yet contemporary messages of Torah. We unite Jews of all different backgrounds through the joy of learning, creating a strong community and ensuring your place in Jewish destiny.

About

The Kollel is a group of rabbis and families in Georgia who have dedicated themselves to promoting Jewish identity through Jewish knowledge. We are both students and teachers. Every morning we study Talmud together as a group and then head out to the community at large to teach about Judaism. We teach high school and college students, professionals and retirees. We are non-judgmental, knowledgeable, funny, inspiring and relevant. Whether you’re Reform, Conservative, Orthodox, unaffiliated or somewhere in between, your most vibrant source for Jewish learning in Atlanta is the Atlanta Scholars Kollel (ASK). With study opportunities in classes, programs and informal settings throughout the city ASK brings a new dimension to everyday Jewish life. By uniting fellow Jews through Jewish education ASK is building bridges in our expansive community. Led by a team of dynamic rabbis, ASK gives you the tools to connect timeless Jewish traditions with modern life. You’ll learn in a nurturing environment as the rabbis expand your mind with Jewish wisdom. In addition, your heart and soul will be uplifted as the Kollel families open their homes to share Shabbat and holidays with you and their rabbinic advice in personally challenging times of growth as well. ASK was founded in 1987 under the leadership of Rabbi Menachem Deutsch. Through the vision of Rabbi Ilan Feldman, then the assistant rabbi to his father, Rabbi Emanuel Feldman, at Congregation Beth Jacob, and the guidance of Rabbi Yaakov Weinberg z”l of Ner Yisrael Rabbinical College, three rabbis moved to Atlanta to start an outreach Kollel, the first of its kind in the world. Over the past two decades the Kollel has grown to over 10 member families, founded an outreach synagogue, and continues to inspire over 1,000 students a month in and around the Atlanta area.
