RALEIGH RESCUE MISSION IS A CHRISTIAN NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION THAT SERVES MEN, WOMEN, AND CHILDREN EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS. THE MISSION HELPS PEOPLE WHO WANT TO MOVE FROM HOMELESSNESS TO LONG TERM STABILITY. THE NEW LIFE PLAN PROGRAM OFFERS A PLAN THAT STARTS WITH ASSESSING AND PROVIDING BASIC PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL AND SPIRITUAL NEEDS. THE ROOT CAUSES OF POVERTY, INCLUDING THE ADVERSE CHILDHOOD EFFECTS OF TRAUMA AND CHRONIC STRESS, ARE ADDRESSED SO THAT WE CAN HELP PEOPLE REBUILD THE FOUNDATION THEY NEED TO BECOME SELF-SUFFICIENT.THE NEW LIFE PLAN OFFERS LONG-TERM SOLUTIONS TO ENDING HOMELESSNESS AND BREAKING THE CYCLE OF POVERTY. THE NEW LIFE PLAN CONSISTS OF SIX PHASES WHICH INCLUDES MEDICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH ASSESSMENTS, LIFE SKILLS SUPPORT, VOCATIONAL TRAINING, COUNSELING, TUTORING, EMPLOYMENT PREPARATION, PURCHASING A CAR, SAVING MONEY, CHILDREN'S TUTORING, NON-SUBSIDIZED HOUSING, CREDIT COUNSELING, STEADY EMPLOYMENT, HOMEOWERSHIP, AND A PATH TOWARDS CONTINUED SUCCESS.* CLIENTS SERVED: IN THE PAST YEAR, THE RALEIGH RESCUE MISSION HAS HELPED 1155 INDIVIDUALS (MEN, WOMEN, AND CHILDREN) FIND HOMELESS SERVICES THROUGH ONE OF THE MISSION'S PROGRAMS, OR THROUGH OTHER AGENCY REFERRALS. 382 ADULTS AND 180 CHILDREN ENTERED INTO OUR RESCUE SERVICES IN THE LONG-TERM NEW LIFE PLAN, AND 232 INDIVIDUALS RECEIVED EMERGENCY OVERNIGHT SERVICES THROUGH OUR SHORT-TERM PROGRAM. THE SHORT-TERM HOUSING PROGRAM IS OFFERED DURING THE WINTER MONTHS DURING WHITE FLAG CONDITIONS (I.E.TEMPERATURE BELOW 38 DEGREES WITH PERCIPITATION OR 32 DEGREES). THE MISSION PROVIDED 29,924 NIGHTS OF SAFE LODGING AND 94,081 MEALS TO MEN, WOMEN, AND CHILDREN IN OUR PROGRAM.* EDUCATION COMPONENT: 62 ADULTS CONTINUED THROUGH THE RESTORE PHASE OF THE NEW LIFE PLAN AND COMPLETED THE EMPLOYMENT PREPARATION PROGRAMS. THESE INCLUDE LIFE SKILLS, JOB READINESS, COMPUTER BASICS, AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING CLASSES THROUGH VOCATIONAL TRAINING AT THE MISSION, OR THROUGH COMMUNITY COLLEGE. ADDITIONALLY, EACH CHILD IS ASSESSED FOR READING PROFICIENCY AND IF NEEDED, PROVIDED PROFESSIONAL TUTORING SERVICES TO ACHIEVE GRADE-LEVEL READING.* CHILDREN'S MINISTRY: THE MISSION EXPANDED CHILDREN SERVICES (FROM BIRTH TO AGE 18) BY ADDING A NEW LIFE PLAN SPECIFIC FOR CHILDREN. THIS PLAN IS DESIGNED TO PROVIDE BEFORE AND AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMMING EACH WEEKDAY, AND ADDITIONAL OUTINGS ON WEEKENDS FOR SCHOOL-AGED CHILDREN, ALONG WITH PROVIDING NURSERY AND PRE-SCHOOL FOR CHILDREN AGED BIRTH TO 5 YEARS. THIS PLAN HELPS THE PARENTS RECEIVE THE INTENSIVE CARE AND JOB SKILLS TRAINING THEY NEED DURING THE WEEKDAY. ALL SCHOOL-AGED CHILDREN CONTINUE TO RECEIVE INDIVIDUALIZED ASSESSMENTS AND TUTORING BY SYLVAN LEARNING. 73 CHILDREN HAVE PARTICIPATED IN 1,318 HOURS OF TUTORING. WE SERVED A TOTAL OF 56 CHILDREN FROM BIRTH TO 5 YEARS. THE MISSION IS COMMITTED TO HELPING CHILDREN BE RESILIENT, OVERCOME SOCIAL AND EDUCATIONAL BARRIERS, PARTICULARLY IN ABILITY TO READ AT GRADE LEVEL. THIS WILL HELP A CHILD SUCCEED IN SCHOOL AND BE ENCOURAGED TO BREAK POSSIBLE GENERATIONAL POVERTY AND HOMELESSNESS IN THEIR LIVES IN THE FUTURE.* HOUSING: 29 ADULTS ENTERED INTO THE RE-ENTRY PHASE OF THE NEW LIFE PLAN AND INTO PERMANENT HOUSING DURING THE YEAR. IN THESE PHASES, THEY CONTINUE TO RECEIVE EDUCATION RELATED TO BUDGETING, BETTER CREDIT, AND BEGIN TO BUILD SAVINGS.
