SAFELIGHT, INC. OFFERS A BROAD RANGE OF SERVICES THAT INCLUDES SHELTER, COUNSELING, COURT ADVOCACY, CAREER TRAINING, AND INDEPENDENT LIVING ASSISTANCE TO VICTIMS AND THEIR FAMILIES. THE ORGANIZATION IS HENDERSON COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA'S ONLY DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT, AND CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION AGENCY, PROVIDING A 24 HOUR CRISIS ASSISTANCE LINE, EMERGENCY SHELTER, INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING, SUPPORT GROUPS, COURT ADVOCACY, AND PROGRAMS FOCUSING ON YOUTH, INCLUDING A DROP IN DAYCARE, AND THE ELDERLY. THE ORGANIZATION IS THE ONLY AGENCY IN THE LOCAL COMMUNITY LICENSED TO PROVIDE COURT ORDERED FAMILY VIOLENCE INTERVENTION CLASSES FOR PERSONS CHARGED WITH DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. IN ADDITION, THE ORGANIZATION OPERATES A TRANSITIONAL HOUSING APARTMENT TO ALLOW CLIENTS EXITING THE SHELTER TO HAVE ACCESS TO AFFORDABLE HOUSING AND LONGER TERM SERVICES WHILE WORKING TOWARDS INDEPENDENT, SAFE, AND SECURE LIVES. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO HAS A JOB TRAINING PROGRAM WHICH ASSISTS VICTIMS IN RETURNING TO THE WORKFORCE. THE FAMILY JUSTICE CENTER OPENED IN OCTOBER 2014 AND IS DESIGNED TO PROVIDE EASY ACCESS TO SERVICES AND RESOURCES. THE FAMILY JUSTICE CENTER IS A COLLABORATION AMONG PARTNERING AGENCIES TO ENHANCE SAFETY, EFFICIENCY, AND JUSTICE FOR VICTIMS OF VIOLENCE IN THE LOCAL COMMUNITY. ALL SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE IN ENGLISH AND SPANISH AND ARE PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE TO VICTIMS. IN 2015, THE ORGANIZATION OPENED THE BELIEVE CHILD ADVOCACY CENTER. THIS CENTER IS AN ACCREDITED CHILD ADVOCACY CENTER, WHERE ABUSED CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES ARE PROVIDED CRISIS INTERVENTION. DURING THE 2018 - 2019 YEAR THE ORGANIZATION SHELTERED 193 ADULTS AND 91 CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 18. TOTAL NUMBER OF BEDNIGHTS PROVIDED WAS 9,733. OUTREACH SERVICES WERE PROVIDED TO 1,136 NON-SHELTERED INDIVIDUALS AND 58 INDIVIDUALS ATTENDED FAMILY VIOLENCE INTERVENTION CLASSES. THE ORGANIZATION RECEIVED 864 HOTLINE CALLS DURING THE YEAR.
