SAAA serves residents in the counties of Clarke, Frederick, Page, Shenandoah and Warren and the city of Winchester comprising a service area of 1,652 miles. Meals on Wheels provided 44,853 meals to homebound older adults; 21,145 trips were provided to the senior centers where older adults received a nutritious meal containing 1/3 of the daily minimum requirements for seniors (27,244 total) and to participate in wellness activities and educational programs which focused on legal issues, scams, insurance education, medical topics, etc.; Welltran provided 9,346 trips for non-emergency transportation to medical appointments and essential errands; through VICAP (insurance counseling) SAAA saved $79,843 in prescription costs for seniors; and 7,980 contacts received information and resources for services relating to older adults.
