Mission

Our mission is to put Judeo-Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. With that and our cause of strengthening community, we're here to make coastal Virginia and northeastern North Carolina a better place to live.

About

HEALTHY LIVING: The YMCA of South Hampton Roads is committed to improving the quality of life in our communities by helping individuals, kids, teens, families, and seniors improve their health and foster connections through fitness, sports, shared interests, and just having fun. Y health and wellness programs, such as group exercise, strength training, personal training, active older adults, diabetes prevention, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, Clinical Fitness, homeschool PE, the Traveling Y and adult and youth sports, are all important as our nation struggles with chronic diseases and obesity, as families wrestle with work/life balance, and as individuals search for personal fulfillment. Our programs are accessible, affordable and open to all faiths, backgrounds, abilities and income levels. In 2018, we provided $6.56 million in financial assistance to people who otherwise may not have been able to participate due to financial barriers. Every dollar is reinvested in the community through Y programs and services.
