Accomplishments
- Cease fire don't smoke the brothers & sisters held its annual thanksgiving sit-down dinner on 11/22/18. we fed about 148 people hot meals at the cease fire don't smoke the brothers & sisters community center. our dinner guests included seniors, the homeless, at-risk youth, ex-prisoners, and anyone that wanted to be in a loving, caring, friendly, and supportive environment. we also took 40 hot plates of food to a local shelter. we delivered about 300 purchased turkeys and donated turkey baskets during the week of thanksgiving to needy families in the community as well. on august 25, 2018 we held our 11th annual six months moratorium to stop the killing cookout and amateur boxing match. we had approximately 5000 attendees throughout the day from various parts of the city. we also had medical groups present to provide health screenings (blood pressure, diabetes and hiv) to attendees. we sign up unregistered attendees to vote. we set up a regulation size boxing ring in the park. we held amateur boxing matches between at-risk youth where each contender received a trophy - win or lose. we had moon bounce and face painting for children. we fed everyone that wanted to eat. we had at-risk youth serving plates of food to seniors at the event and keeping the park clean. since we are a 501(c)(3) non profit organization, students were able to get community service credits. we gave out awards to deserving community leaders. we had prominent speakers promoting our agenda of non violence and peace. we had bands entertaining attendees with songs of peace and non violence. every year we re-activate our 6 month moratorium to stop the killing with this event. our goal is to be impactful in the city in reducing violent crimes and shootings. the name of our organization - cease fire don't smoke (shoot) the brothers explains our mission. we also go to court with youth in legal trouble and we work with the half way houses and schools throughout the year. we have saved about 25 youth from the prison system this year. we patrol communities to be a presence so that violence is curtailed and we continue to quash beef between gangs. we receive many awards every year for our hard work. cease fire don't smoke the brothers & sisters focuses on at-risk youth (male and female), gang members and ex-prisoners to redirect behaviors that lead to violent crimes, gangs, incarceration and recidivism. our organization became widely recognized for quashing beefs, a 24-hour, seven-days-a week vehicle patrol of the city's hot crime spots; providing a safe haven for at-risk youth and ex-prisoners; assisting ex-prisoners with jobs with livable wages and providing a site to earn community service credits. please help support our programs and services with a donation. we accept credit cards by paypal, square, cash app and we accept checks. we are a 501(c)(3) non profit organization and therefore your donations are tax deductible. please make check payable to cease fire...dstb and mail to the address listed below. you can also donate through the dc one fund #8509, if you are a dc government employee or through the combined federal campaign - cfc #73886 if you are a federal government employee. cease fire don't smoke the brothers & sisters is located at 4708 - 14th street, nw, washington, dc. 20011. our email address is ceasefdstb@aol.com. our phone number is 202-210-1960. thank you for you support.
