PROVIDING HOLISTIC SUPPORT, BOTH TO A CHILD AT AN EARLY AGE AND TO HIS/HER FAMILY, HELPS TO BREAK THE CYCLE OF POVERTY AND ENSURE CHILDREN AND FAMILIES HAVE THE RESOURCES TO REACH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL. ST. VINCENT DE PAUL OF BALTIMORE OPERATES THE FOLLOWING SERVICES FOR CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES:HEAD STARTST. VINCENT DE PAUL OF BALTIMORE HAS OPERATED HEAD START SERVICES FOR THE PAST 15 YEARS, SERVING 755 CHILDREN AND FAMILIES IN BALTIMORE CITY. HEAD START PROVIDES CHILDREN WITH HIGH QUALITY EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION WITH SUPPORT SERVICES TO PARENTS. CAMP DISCOVERYCAMP DISCOVERY IS AN 8-WEEK SUMMER CAMP DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY TO COMBAT SUMMER LEARNING LOSS AND BRIDGE THE ACHIEVEMENT GAP FOR OUR HEAD START STUDENTS THAT ARE TRANSITIONING TO KINDERGARTEN. EACH SUMMER, CAMP DISCOVERY PROVIDES 230 CHILDREN WITH ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT, KINDERGARTEN READINESS, SOCIAL EMOTIONAL CURRICULUM, SWIM DAYS, AND STEM INFUSED ACTIVITIES. CAMP ST. VINCENTCAMP ST. VINCENT IS THE ONLY SUMMER CAMP DEDICATED TO SERVING HOMELESS CHILDREN IN THE BALTIMORE REGION. THE 8-WEEK CAMP PROVIDES A POSITIVE CARING ENVIRONMENT DEVELOPED TO ASSIST CHILDREN IN OVERCOMING THE DAMAGING EFFECTS OF HOMELESSNESS. THE CURRICULUM AT CAMP ST. VINCENT IS DESIGNED TO ADDRESS THE CHALLENGES OF SUMMER LEARNING LOSS AND TO HELP CHILDREN DEVELOP RESILIENCY SKILLS THAT PROMOTE SUCCESSFUL ADAPTATION IN THE AREAS OF SOCIAL COMPETENCE, PROBLEM SOLVING, AND PURPOSEFUL BEHAVIOR. CAMP ST. VINCENT ALSO OFFERS ART, MOVEMENT AND DANCE, NATURE EXPLORATION, AND WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTION, AS WELL AS WEEKLY EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES AND EDUCATIONAL FIELD TRIPS. CAMP ST. VINCENT SERVES OVER 200 CHILDREN EACH SUMMER.
