About this organization
Mission
The Global LPG Partnership's mission is to assist developing countries to plan, finance and implement national-scale availability and use of liquefied petroleum gas ("LPG") for clean cooking. This will help prevent the 4 million annual deaths, severe forest loss, and vast impact on women's and children's labor time caused by societal dependence on solid fuels for cooking. Our goal is to enable the transition of one billion people to clean LPG use for household cooking by 2030, providing affordable access to modern energy as part of the transition to a sustainable future and in accordance with the UN Sustainable Development Goal on ensuring universal access to modern energy services.
About
GLPGP designs, finances and implements large-scale sustainable transitions to clean household fuel and replace dependence on solid fuel, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa and Southern Asia. GLPGP carried out Phase II of a microfinance project for LPG equipment (about $86) in Cameroon with 6-month loans for 526 households, with capital repayment of 97% to-date and LPG usage above the national average. This validated GLPGP's hypothesis that LPG microfinance can over time become a regular, profitable lending activity for local Cameroonian microfinance institutions, while developing household use of LPG for cooking, with the related benefits of improved health, reduced deforestation, and freed-up time for other activities. GLPGP also completed a few other projects in 2018 which are outlined below:-Separate analyses of Rwanda's and Senegal's need for national Master Plans for use of LPG-Worked on Cameroon, Ghana and Kenya reports for KfW-Assistance to Ghana and its National Petroleum Authority for LPG
