Mission

Snake River Waterkeeper exists for the purpose of applying science and law to protect, restore, and sustain waters of the Snake River Basin.

About

In 2018, SRW hosted a volunteer river cleanup and flotilla in addition to pushing forward advocacy campaigns on dam removal, CAFO accountability, and hatchery compliance with federal regulations while building the largest nongovernmental water quality dataset in Idaho. Members and volunteers removed trash from riverbanks at our Spring Adopt-a-Stream cleanup, then staff and interns sampled water quality criteria and collected court-admissible data at over 50 sites across the reach of the Snake River Basin. With this data, SRW pushes forward its legal advocacy campaign and shares human health risks with the public via our online SWIM Guide. We were also involved as coplaintiffs in several lawsuits and enforcement actions against agencies and Clean Water Act violators.
