Powered by attorney volunteers, PBPO strengthens our community by providing free business legal services and education to nonprofits. We envision a just and equitable community enhanced by thriving nonprofits and engaged attorney volunteers. PBPO recruits and mobilizes attorneys from major corporations and law firms to donate their time and expertise on behalf of its nonprofit clients, enhancing their ability to improve conditions in their communities. PBPO provides nearly all of its services without charge through the generosity of individual and institutional donors, its experienced legal staff, and the volunteer participation of the broader legal community.
About
Our main program service is our direct legal representation of qualifying 501(c)(3) organizations in connection with their business legal needs. This is accomplished by making it easy for in-house and law firm transactional attorneys to volunteer on behalf of these organizations within their own areas of expertise. In 2018, PBPO provided free legal assistance to 120 nonprofit organizations. With 268 volunteer attorneys were matched with 334 different legal matters for nonprofits. Volunteer attorneys provided free legal assistance to PBPO clients valued at over $715,000. Additionally, in 2018 we also provided 28 educational outreach seminars, workshops, and legal checkup events to nonprofit leaders and board members in Cincinnati and Dayton.
