Mission

My City School is an experience-based learning environment for middle school children for mild to moderate LD students who thrive in an environment that serves their kinesthetic, multi- sensory learning styles such as Dyslexia, ADHD, CAPD, Dysgraphia, and Dyscalculia. Our program delivers an individualized curriculum that teaches to and increases the capacity of each child's ability to learn. My City School allows the child to find their contribution in the world by sparking their motivation and interests, by providing individualized learning techniques that yield significant, measurable growth, and by incorporating strong social-emotional learning throughout the program. Our Mission is to provide each child with the academic, social-emotional and life skill resources they need to keep future doors open for high school, and higher education they choose.

About

A multi-sensory micro school environment that closes the learning gaps and stretches middle school students with LD's to prepare for high school and higher education. To date we have served over 20 students in our program. We have had 9 students graduate. 8 out of the 9 have transitioned back to public schools focused on college. We are also known for our 3 year students that enter MCS with an IEP, will then transition to a 504 by the time they have make 9th grade. This speaks volumes to their metacognitive development, and self advocacy when it comes to their learning needs. We offer free parent/educator trainings that are leading the path in changing how education is delivered. To date we have provided workshops for over 150 educators, learning specialists and parents looking for ways to reach children with learning disabilities. We work with SFSU (San Francisco State University) and have been a place of observation for over 200 college students who are soon to be educators, as well as offer internship programs. Our expenses are solely determined by the number of students and the tuition they pay. We craft each year to correspond to the number of paying students as we also offer financial assistance each and every year.
