About this organization
Mission
To educate and support basic needs of Guatemalan orphans.
About
Orphan support accomplishment: We supported the administration and costs of a bilingual school for children of Fundacion Salvacion orphanage: books, teacher salaries, professional development, school snacks, and more. During 2018, the board decided to discontinue the supplemental funding provided to Fundacion Salvacion. We also supported Story International, ONG, which was established on May 25th, 2018. During 2018, we opened the Refuge 91, a short-term residential facility. Refuge 91 provides emergency shelter and care for at-risk kids needing immediate intervention and removal from their circumstances by court order for their safety and well-being. During 2018, we are negotiating an agreement with the Department of Social Welfare that will allow Story to act as a foster care agency in Huehuetenango. We have been building relationships with strategic church partners and begin to educate them about foster care and adoption. We are planning to officially launch this program, approve our first families, and make our first placements in 2019. Lastly, we supported Cafe Fuego, which provides job skills training to some of the Guatemalan children from the orphanage and school.
