Mission

Recovery Café San Jose is healing community for those traumatized by addiction, homelessness, and mental health challenges. Located in the heart of downtown San Jose, RCSJ is a place where anyone seeking recovery can come for meals, support groups, classes, community resources, and social activities in a sober and supportive environment.

About

Recovery Circles are small weekly peer support and accountability groups that form the base of our program. Through the Recovery Circles, each member comes to be deeply known and supported by at least one staff member, volunteer facilitator or peer leader. Our School for Recovery offers 8-week session classes in the following categories: Life Skills, Inner Healing and Relationships, Health Living and Addiction and Recovery. The Barista and Culinary Training Program is an 8-week course preparing members to work in the restaurant and service industry. In FY 2018-19 we served approximately 660 individuals, with an average participation of 175 members weekly. Breaking bread together plays a large role in how we build community at RCSJ. Group lunches are served to our members five days each week, and group dinners are served twice weekly, for a total of over 10,000 meals served in FY 2018-19.
