CRISIS INTERVENTION AND ADVOCACY - OUR STAFF MEMBERS AND TRAINED VOLUNTEERS SERVE AS ADVOCATES TO INDIVIDUALS WHO CALL THE CRISIS LINE AND WHO ARE REFERRED BY LAW ENFORCEMENT FOLLOWING A DOMESTIC ASSAULT CALL. THEY WORK ONE-TO-ONE WITH VICTIMS, HELPING THEM TO IDENTIFY NEEDS AND ASSESS OPTIONS. ADVOCATES MAY HELP ARRANGE A SAFE PLACE TO GO, ASSIST WITH FILING ORDERS FOR PROTECTION, ACCOMPANY VICTIMS TO COURT HEARINGS, HELP OBTAIN DOMESTIC VIOLENCE WAIVERS AT WORKFORCE CENTERS, AND MAKE REFERRALS TO OTHER SERVICES. THEY DO WHATEVER'S NEEDED TO HELP THE VICTIM ESCAPE THE VIOLENT AND UNHEALTHY SITUATION AND SURVIVE THE CRISIS.24-HOUR CRISIS LINE - PAID AND VOLUNTEER ADVOCATES STAFF THIS CONFIDENTIAL, 24/7 SERVICE. THEY LISTEN AND HELP WHENEVER VICTIMS CAN GET A MOMENT AWAY FROM THEIR ABUSER TO PHONE US. FRIENDS AND FAMILY MEMBERS OF VICTIMS ALSO CALL FOR INFORMATION AND RESOURCES.SAFE HOUSING - IF VICTIMS OR THEIR CHILDREN NEED TO ESCAPE IMMEDIATE DANGER, WE BOOK A HOTEL WHERE THEY CAN SAFELY STAY FOR UP TO THREE DAYS WHILE THEY IDENTIFY OPTIONS, MAKE DECISIONS, AND FORMULATE LONGER-TERM PLANS.WOMEN'S SUPPORT GROUPS - IN CONFIDENTIAL MEETINGS WITH PEERS, SURVIVORS BEGIN THE MENTAL, EMOTIONAL AND PHYSICAL JOURNEY OUT OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. TRAINED VOLUNTEER FACILITATORS, WHO ARE SOMETIMES SURVIVORS THEMSELVES, LEAD DISCUSSIONS, ADDRESS COMMON MISPERCEPTIONS ABOUT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, AND OFFER INSIGHTS AND SUPPORT. FOR MANY PARTICIPANTS, THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THEY BREAK THE SILENCE THAT SURROUNDED THEIR ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIP. THEY BEGIN TO FEEL LESS ISOLATED, CLARIFY FEELINGS, AND IDENTIFY STRATEGIES TO REMOVE THEMSELVES FROM VIOLENCE.
