CTC's 2017-18 season brought together four musicals, two world premieres, one production specifically designed for preschool audiences, and partnerships with local, national, and international theatres. It included: Minnesota hockey musical The Abominables, a world premiere produced in association with New York City-based theatre company The Civilians, with music and lyrics by Michael Friedman and directed by Steve Cosson; the return of Barry Kornhauser's Balloonacy, a preschool play; Dr. Seuss's How The Grinch Stole Christmas, our holiday show, directed by Peter Brosius, with book and lyrics by Timothy Mason and music by Mel Marvin; The Wiz, in a first-time partnership with Penumbra Theatre; Corduroy, a world premiere adaptation by Barry Kornhauser of Don Freeman's beloved children's books; and the U.S. premiere of Dr. Seuss's The Lorax, a classic tale of environmentalism co-produced with The Old Globe in San Diego, in partnership with The Old Vic in London, adapted for the stage by David Grieg, and featuring music and lyrics by Charlie Fink.
