Supportive Housing: Supportive Housing is available On-Site or Scattered-Site and serves single adults who need safe and sober housing with support services. Those we serve are often considered the chronically or long-term homeless and many of them have emotional and/or psychological issues and/or a history of substance abuse. Case management services are available for all clients. Whether seeking further education or developing employment skills, clients within the Supportive Housing program are working toward becoming productive members of the community, developing skills that will enable them to be self-sufficient.On-Site Supportive Housing at 510 South 8th Street, Minneapolis, MN: There are 103 beds available with 14 of them reserved for veterans through a partnership with the Veterans Administration. The On-Site Supportive Housing program provided housing to 372 individuals in 2018, with an average length of stay of 236 days.Scatter-Site Supportive Housing Program: This program places clients in affordable community housing and overlay supportive services. Case Managers provide home visits once a week, providing guidance on being a good tenants and communicating with the landlord, as well as information on nutrition, cooking, budgeting and managing physical health issues and medications. Many clients are now enrolled in school or a training program so that they can secure better employment in the near future. House of Charity is working on placing people in geographic clusters to promote natural support groups of clients housed near each other. To qualify for the program, participants must be long-term homeless or have a long-term disability. Clients receive a rent subsidy, passed through House of Charity, and supplemental nutrition supports. The result has been that previously hard-to-place clients, who have often struggled to find housing and achieve self-sufficiency, are now stably housed and are able to attend school, gain employment, reunite with their families, and/or secure additional income. The Scattered-Site Supportive Housing Program housed 119 clients by the end of 2018.
