Mission
THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE COMMITTEE IS TO BE INVOLVED IN ECONOMIC AND/OR WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES. OUR SERVICES ARE SUBSTANTIALLY SUPPORTED THROUGH FUNDING FROM GOVERNMENTAL UNIT(S) OR DIRECT AS WELL AS INDIRECT CONTRIBUTIONS FROM THE GENERAL PUBLIC. THE WORK OF THE COMMITTEE INCLUDES: (1) STRATEGIC PLANNING; (2) ESTABLISHING, PERFORMING AND/OR SEEKING TO MODIFY ECONOMIC AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS OR INITIATIVES; (3) COLLABORATING, AS APPROPRIATE, WITH OTHER AGENCIES OR ORGANIZATIONS ON SUCH MATTERS; AND (4) ANY OTHER LAWFUL ACTIVITIES RELATED TO THE ACCOMPLISHMENT OF THE COMMITTEE'S MISSION WHICH ARE NOT INCONSISTENT WITH ANY FEDERAL OR STATE, REGULATIONS OR GUIDELINES AND THE GENERAL NOT FOR PROFIT ACT OF 1986 (805 ILCS SECTION 105 ET SEQ).
About
"EMPLOYER TRAINING INVESTMENT PROGRAM" FUNDED THROUGH THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT (DCEO): CFL-WAC PROVIDES EMPLOYED WORKER'S WITH SKILL TRAINING TO KEEP PACE IN NEW TECHNOLOGIES AND BUSINESS PRACTICES. UPGRADING THESE SKILLS HELPS BUSINESSES INCREASE PRODUCTIVITY, REDUCE COSTS, IMPROVE QUALITY AND BOOST COMPETITIVENESS. DURING FISCAL YEAR 2014, CFL-WAC SUBSIDIZED TRAINING COSTS TO LOCAL UNIONS AND BUSINESSES TRAINING OVER 6,700 PERSONS IN NEW SKILLS INCLUDING, OSHA TRAINING, SUPERVISOR TRAINING AND MACHINE AND COMPUTER DATABASE TRAINING WHICH LED TO THESE WORKERS MAINTAINING THEIR EMPLOYMENT STATUS AND KEEPING THE WORK IN ILLINOIS."EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES GRANT PROGRAM (EGOP)" FUNDED THROUGH THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENTTHE CFL-WAC SUPPORTS THIS NEW PROGRAM WHICH WILL PROVIDE CONTEXTUALIZED BRIDGE LEARNING TO 35 MEN WHICH WILL LEAD TO EMPLOYMENT FOR 25 IN THE BUILDING TRADES SECTOR AND/OR CONTINUE THEIR EDUCATION.
