CHILD ADVOCACY CENTER, INC. (THE CENTER), A FLORIDA NOT-FOR-PROFIT CORPORATION LOCATED IN GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA, PROVIDES A CHILD-FRIENDLY, SAFE AND SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT FOR ABUSED, NEGLECTED, OR TRAFFICKED CHILDREN. THE CENTER IS A PLACE WHERE PROFESSIONALS - SOCIAL WORKERS, COUNSELORS, LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS, STATE ATTORNEYS, VICTIM ADVOCATES, MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS AND OTHERS - WORK AS A TEAM TO COORDINATE INVESTIGATIONS AND INTERVENTIONS FOR EACH CHILD ABUSE CASE. THIS MULTI- DISCIPLINARY TEAM COLLABORATION EXPEDITES EACH CHILD'S TIME IN THE LEGAL SYSTEM AND ENSURES THAT CHILDREN ARE NOT RE-VICTIMIZED BY THE SYSTEM, AND THAT THEY AND THEIR FAMILIES ARE PROVIDED THE SUPPORT AND SERVICES NEEDED TO HEAL. IN CONJUNCTION WITH THIS MULTI-DISCIPLINARY TEAM APPROACH, THE CENTER OFFERS A VARIETY OF TRAUMA-INFORMED SERVICES INCLUDING SPECIALIZED PLAY THERAPY FOR CHILD VICTIMS, THEIR NON-OFFENDING CAREGIVERS, AND SIBLINGS; FORENSIC INTERVIEWS, CASE MANAGEMENT AND TRACKING. IN 2019, THE CENTER PROVIDED THESE SERVICES TO APPROXIMATELY 1799 CHILDREN IN THE COMMUNITY, 37 CHILD VICTIMS OF SEX TRAFFICKING, AND 10 VICTIMS OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY. 2062 NON-OFFENDING CAREGIVERS WERE ALSO PROVIDED ADVOCACY AND/OR THERAPY SERVICES. A TOTAL OF 228 FORENSIC INTERVIEWS, 4380 THERAPY SESSIONS AND 16772 VICTIM ADVOCACY SERVICES WERE PROVIDED IN 2019. THE CENTER IS THE ONLY LOCATION IN THE AREA THAT IS CHILD-FOCUSED AND UTILIZES THE TRAUMA-INFORMED MODEL ADOPTED NATIONALLY BY THE NATIONAL CHILDREN'S ALLIANCE AS A BEST PRACTICE FOR TREATING CHILDREN WHO HAVE SUFFERED ABUSE. ALL SERVICES AT THE CENTER ARE AVAILABLE FREE OF CHARGE TO CHILD VICTIMS FOR AS LONG AS THEY ARE NEEDED.
