Mission
The Southern California Streets Initiative is the non-profit publisher of Streetsblog Los Angeles, Long Beachize and Santa Monica Next. These three news websites focus on transportation, land use, open space, urban design and public health in the cities they cover.
About
This year, the Southern California Streets Initiative celebrated the launch of two new news websites focused on the issues of livability, transportation, urban design, planning, open space and public health in the Southern California cities of Santa Monica and Long Beach. In addition, we added a new staff writer to follow policy issues in Sacramento as they relate to our core issues. Our work as non-profit journalists was recognized for excellence by the Society of Professional Journalists, Center for California Studies and Los Angeles Press Club.
