Mission

The Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh, a premier ensemble, is dedicated to performing at the highest musical standards, enriching our community, and advancing the choral art. It shall be recognized as the greater Pittsburgh region's preeminent independent and symphonic chorus. Nationally, it shall rank as one of the most highly regarded choral ensembles for its innovative artistic, educational, and outreach achievements. The Mendelssohn is passionate about choral music. By singing choral music at the highest level, the Choir combines the clarity of words with the mystical power of music; the deepest and most universal of human expressions are magnified through a community of voices. As the Pittsburgh Symphony's ""chorus of choice,"" the Mendelssohn has performed under the baton of some of the world's foremost conductors providing Pittsburgh audiences with great choral works that speak to the human spirit and what it means to be human in the fullest sense of the word. Through commissions of new works and fostering of young singers through the Junior Mendelssohn, the Choir seeks to nurture the development of the choral art and artists.
