About this organization
Mission
Our mission is to provide food security, directly and indirectly, to people in Centre County. Vision Statement: One day, no one will go hungry in Centre County.
About
Clients may utilize services monthly with a minimum of thirty days between visits. The client must be referred by a case manager in a safety net organization in order to receive food help on an annual basis. Clients receive approximately a 7-14 day supply of groceries. The size of the food distribution corresponds to the number of people in the household. In addition to non-perishable foods, grocery orders include milk, eggs, bread and frozen meat. The food bank provides food distributions to 500+ households within a year. This approximates to almost 2,000 individuals who receive food from those distributions and over 400,000 meals provided in total. Approximately 30% of those are children, and a quarter of the population are over the age of 60. 'Summer Kids Bags' are a major program for the food bank, which provides to almost 1,000 unique children annually (which included proteins, grains, fruits, vegetables and dairy) to help with food security during the non-school months. Volunteers contribute over 12,000 hours of service each year.
