EACH YEAR, NEARLY 62,000 CHILDREN, YOUTH AND ADULTS IN NEW JERSEY AND BEYOND CHOOSE GEORGE STREET PLAYHOUSE (GSP) FOR OUR HIGH QUALITY, PROFESSIONAL THEATRE PROGRAMMING. EACH SEASON, WE DEMONSTRATE OUR COMMITMENT TO PRODUCING NEW WORKS THROUGH OUR WORLD-CLASS MAINSTAGE SERIES OF FIVE PLAYS OR MUSICALS. GSP IS PROUD TO HAVE PREMIERED SEVERAL PLAYS WHICH HAVE GONE ON TO SUCCESSFUL NEW YORK BROADWAY AND OFF-BROADWAY RUNS, GARNERING NATIONAL ATTENTION AND MANY AWARDS AND NOMINATIONS. GSP'S EDUCATION DEPARTMENT BRINGS TOURING PRODUCTIONS ON RELEVANT ISSUES IMPACTING YOUNG PEOPLE SUCH AS HEALTHY EATING, BULLYING AND MOST RECENTLY, OPIOID ADDICTION TO OVER 24,000 STUDENTS STATE-WIDE EACH YEAR. GSP'S SKILLED TEACHING ARTISTS LEAD YEAR-ROUND ACTING CLASSES FOR AGES 5 TO ADULT, PROVIDE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TRAINING FOR EDUCATORS AND PARTNER WITH CLASSROOM TEACHERS FOR EXTENDED IN-SCHOOL, CURRICULUM-BASED, RESIDENCY PROGRAMS.
