Conservation easements/ land protection / stewardship. The Beaufort County Open Land Trust (OLT) continued its forward momentum in 2018. The Open Land Trust accepted one new easement in 2018 (Whitehall Park), bringing its total protected acreage to 22,988 with 86 conservation easement projects and 51 fee based land projects. The OLT stewards and maintains iconic public viewsheds and greenspace/open space in the Beaufort area in addition to ecologically sensitive lands and undeveloped marsh islands.
