About
SANCTUARIES & HABITAT CONSERVATION: Houston Audubon owns 17 nature sanctuaries on the Upper Texas Coast, providing 3,477 acres of piney wood forest, wetlands, coastal prairie and coastal woodlots that serve as critical habitat for over 300 species of migratory and resident birds. The sanctuaries are managed with an emphasis on habitat restoration, bird monitoring and protection, invasive species control, and providing public access to nature.
