Mission

Running Start is a nonpartisan nonprofit that trains young women to run for political office.

About

Star Fellowship Program: The program brings 14 young women a year to DC to learn about the political process and what it takes to run for office. We place fellows with female members of Congress and conduct seminars for them at Running Start every Friday. Our Friday seminars focus on the nuts and bolts of politics and running for office, and the skills you need to lead. Our graduates report that they are much more interested in running for office after the program, and many gain jobs in their Capitol Hill offices. We provide our fellows with a stipend and housing during the semester they are in Washington.
