About

VOCATIONAL SCHOOLS: Rwanda Rise has vocational training programs in 2 locations in Rwanda. Hope Vocational Training Center (HVTC) was established in 2008 in the community of Kabuga, a town near Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda, and later in the village of Rugengabari. HVTC continues to increase its programs and student population.A new parcel of land adjacent to our present Kabuga campus was purchased for the purpose of the expansion of programs, growth of the student body, construction of needed buildings and infrastructure. This acquisition doubled the size of our land with a goal of expanding our accredited programs to 8 with the addition of a Mechanics program and a Computer Technology program. This new land purchase helps us reach our goal of 500 graduates per year, up from our current nearly 300 graduates per year.HVTC offers 2 government certified and accredited training levels: The Level 3 year-long training program is for new apprentices and the Level 2 training program is for continuing education for professionals. Level 3 graduated 164 students and Level 2 graduated 109 students. In 2018 the vocational training programs graduated a total of 273 students in its 6 vocational schools, as follows: 1 graduate in Carpentry, 20 graduates in Welding, 13 in Masonry, 84 in Sewing, 82 in Hairdressing, and 73 graduates in Culinary Arts. The gender breakdown of our student body is 71% women and 29% men.
