Mission

Swan Song exists to fulfill musical last wishes for individuals with a terminal illness, bringing their favorite music to the bedside, home, or hospice facility.

About

Swan Songs' core program is the fulfillment of musical last wishes through private concerts. The concerts are available for patients in a non-curative phase of care in the central Texas area, whether they are in a hospital, care facility or at home. Requests can be for a specific local musician or a certain style of music or particular musical instrument. Swan Songs works diligently to match the request with the appropriate musician(s). Musicians are offered an honorarium for their time; there is no charge to the patient, family or facility for the concert. In 2017, Swan Songs organized 253 concerts for terminally ill individuals and their families in 37 cities in 7 counties in central Texas. More than 2,450 people attended these concerts. Twenty-eight volunteers worked more than 350 hours; 167 different musicians performed; and 80 healthcare workers, chaplains and social workers from 30 different facilities, in addition to dozens of friends and families, requested concerts for the patients.
