Mission

Brooklyn Arts Exchange is a proud cultural home to thousands of artists, students, families and audience members - founded in 1991 as a small performance, rehearsal and educational venue in Brooklyn that encouraged artistic risk-taking and stimulated dialogue among diverse constituencies. BAX is still committed to that original vision through artist residencies, youth education in our facility and in Brooklyn public schools, risk-taking performances and curations, affordable rehearsal space, community dialogues, forums, and classes that center artists from traditionally marginalized backgrounds, and access to the arts regardless of an individual or family’s ability to pay. BAX have purposefully constructed an environment where children study and artists create under the same roof.
