The mission of Honolulu Theatre for Youth (HTY) is to produce professional theatre and drama education programs that make a difference in the lives of young people, families and educators in the State of Hawaii. Founded in 1955, Honolulu Theatre for Youth is one of the oldest professional children's theatres in the country. Deeply rooted in the cultures and people of the Pacific, HTY is best known for its long history of innovative drama education programming and the creation of original theatrical work. As the only professional non-profit theatre in the State and the largest independent provider of arts education in Hawaii, the company has long played a leading role in the region. Annually, HTY produces 6-8 plays, and drama education workshops that benefit 100,000 people statewide.
